Pizza John`s in Essex

Their pizza is so good! Their pizza sauce is super good. I haven't found a place whose pizza sauce can compare. By the way, costco sells a $100 pizza john's gift card for $80. Which is great because their pizza is a bit pricy but worth it.

The food is very good but can be pricey when it comes to ordering a pizza but I guess that's b/c the ingredients are fresh not frozen.

Always consistently delicious homemade pizzas, subs, salad, Italian dishes and more.

Food is fantastic, always very generous with their servings. They may have messed up my order but, once the issue was addressed they gave me my missing items without much fuss. I won't blame the crew for missing a thing or two because they were extremely busy at the time.

Old fashioned Pizza joint . Great service. Very clean. Easily one of the best Pizza places in Baltimore. No free refills on drinks though. I would given a full 5 stars if refills were free.

Good pizza, subs and desserts. They have been there for a lot of years. I grew up eating their pizza. There has always been a lot people that come near and far to their place The owners are very nice people!

Ordered 3 large pizzas. Cheese, sausage and pepperoni. All 3 were awesome. The cheese I had last and was my favorite! Had a Sam Adam's as well. The parking lot is huge! The establishment is immaculate. I have never been in a pizzeria that I'd so clean.

This is essentially a Baltimore landmark at this point, with an interesting method of ordering and serving pizza. You place orders at the counter and either dine in (self seating) or takeout. The og pepperoni pizza was a bit greasy and a tad undercooked but was still pretty tasty. Sauce and crust are about a 3.8. Lots of booths and plenty of options. Avoid the large soda = diabetes

The food was amazing and I highly recommend people to eat here. HOWEVER, when I was there the manager was handing out $25.00 coupons to the patrons. I was a patron🤷🏾‍♀️ and when it was my turn to get a coupon guess who didn't receive one? 🙋🏾 I don't want to think or assume that I was discriminated against while in this restaurant. I was the only POC in there at the time but there had been plenty in and out.... I wonder if they received coupons??? Well it's a mute point because I didn't say anything, it's a coupon no biggie right? And most likely I will return, just will not eat there... ✌🏾 I really liked the pizza... Piping hot man....

A local tradition. A fine business that both supports and is supported by the community. They even do behind-the-scenes tours. I hear, too, that they make their own cheese. In the hour we visited, at least 100+ orders were called (speaker broadcasts order numbers).Pizza was quite good. Crust was excellent. Liked the sauce too. The pepperoni circles curl up and collect the grease that forms as the pizza bakes. Beer on tap available. Ice cream counter, too. Hundreds of seats and a big parking lot.

We have been coming here for 30+ years and have never had a bad experience. The staff, and there is plenty all the time, is always willing to tend to your needs. The pizza and subs are our go to items and are very good. The pasta offerings are delicious as well. This is a counter service place where you order, grab a table and pick up your food when called. They have remodeled and expanded over the years to keep up with demand. Prime times can be busy with a short wait for a table.

Essex is the home of most likely the best pizza made in the state of Maryland at Pizza John’s. I will be making my third trip here in the last four months. When you walk into the place with plenty of seating inside, it just screams pizza with all their employees ready to take orders and make your pizza dreams come true. I had their superb double cheese & triple pepperoni pizza on my last trip. Their pepperoni is to die for as it curls up over the cheese on a perfectly cooked crust and their crinkle cut french fries are crispy and tasty. They serve beer, wine, desserts, subs, salads and take home pizzas and sauce. A must visit for any foodie!!!

Very laid back, nice family restaurant. We celebrated a birthday party and it worked out great there. We reserved a large table which was ready for us when we arrived. You order your food and pay first then they call your number when it's ready. Delicious cheesy pizza and fresh crunchy salads. The staff is friendly but they don't really have servers that wait on you so don't expect it. We had a nice lady who would clear dishes for us though and we tipped her.

Huge selection of items, and staff get customers to order or pickup windows in a reasonable amount of time. Veggie pizza is full of toppings and very tasty.

Best pizza around by far. If you haven't tried this place, do yourself a favor. I wish they'd open more locations. One in BelAir would make a killing.

Order Mushroom and pepperoni... I got a mushrooms pizza that was Cold. It was not a good pizza. Makes me wonder what changed. :/

As always one of my favorite places to eat started eating there when they started back in the sixties. Always packed so make sure you have plenty of time to wait for your food. It's worth the wait

Pizza is delicious, salads are crisp and the beverages are nice and cold. Oh and the sub's are packed. What ever you pick you can't go wrong.

Wow!! This is our place to go after golf matches at Rocky Point.. the Pizza is so delicious yum!! Careful ... I seem to over eat when it comes to their pizza.. it is so good!! It may be crazy busy 247.. but it is worth the wait!! And they put a ton of their homemade sauce on the pizza😍😍😍 they cook it to perfection every time!! And it is consistently as good every time we have gone for the past 3 years!! It makes it worth the long drive for a golf match!! And a great place to eat before driving an hour to get back home😃... I will be sad when High School golf season is over and we do not have an excuse to go there after a golf match!!

Food is still good, but it lost its old flare. The prices went up significantly in recent years--and while about $10 for a half-steak sub is (sometimes) worth it, $6.10 for some leaves, some dressing, and a cherry tomato is hilarious.Worse, the place is so crowded--with takeout orders, people placing their orders, others waiting for pickup--that it's like carrying your pizza, drinks, subs, and salad through a line at Disney World. Food is still good, but it's not the same place as when it was just the two dining rooms.

I feel the quality used to be a lot better. Cheesesteak sub used to be out of this world, last two time I got it I was very disappointed, probably won't get again. Not sure if something changed. Pizza is still good. The fries were wayyyy overdone and not edible yesterday but it could have also been because we had a large order and the person that took it replied they were too busy to repeat the order when asked and when I arrived to pick up we were missing a cheese pizza and it took close to 20 minutes to get it made so the food just sat under the heat lamp. No sense of urgency or apology.

We just LOVE Pizza John’s! We no longer live in the area, but when we visit, we always make a point to stop in. Probably the best pepperoni pizza we’ve ever had! The meatball subs are delicious as well. Gets crowded on weekends, and that’s expected when they serve the best pizza on the east coast!

Best pizza ever. Never seen a cleaner restaurant. Fully staffed to meet the needs of such a busy business. They never skimp on ingredients. More pepperoni ever on a pizza and the same great quality everyday. This will never be duplicated.We love Pizza Johns!!

I grew up eating Pizza John's food. Several times a year different classmates from Kenwood High Class of 70 get together here to remember old times and eat great food. There are private rooms for large groups. The staff is extremely cordial.

I've been coming to this place since I was a kid. The location has changed a lot since then, but the food sure as hell hasn't. Some of the best pizza you'll ever have. I've never gotten something from there I didn't like. I will gladly drive from the city to Pizza John's over going to any pizza joint around here. Oh, and save room for some black bottoms or a cannolli.

They have the best gluten free pizza crust. The food is always hot and our orders are correct as we usually do take out. All toppings are fresh and delicious on my pizza. When we eat in the restaurant it is kept very clean, especially during busy times. The staff is very helpful without hovering. Love this place!
